June 2026 - Severe Storm
6/16/2026 5:00pm
The City of Liberty is actively monitoring a severe weather threat expected to impact Southeast Texas throughout the week. The EOC is currently operating at a Level III (Increased Readiness), meaning staff are monitoring conditions, maintaining situational awareness, and coordinating as needed, but there are no active emergencies requiring a full EOC activation at this time.Out of an abundance of caution, Mayor John Hebert has signed a local disaster declaration to ensure the City is prepared to respond quickly should conditions worsen. This proactive measure helps position the City to coordinate resources and emergency response efforts if needed.Forecasts indicate our area could receive an additional 4 to 7 inches of rainfall over the next five days. As rain accumulates, localized street flooding and flooding in low-lying areas may occur, especially during periods of heavy rainfall. The EOC will continue to monitor conditions and coordinate with local, state, and federal partners as needed. Additionally, we will continue to provide updates as conditions change.
