Electrical Department

About Us

The Electrical Department is located at 1100 North Main Street in the Public Works Service Center. The Department consists of well-trained employees that include supervisors, linemen and an equipment operator. In addition to maintaining the electricity distribution system, the department is also responsible for maintaining security and street lighting, responding to electrical outages, tree trimming to prevent power outages, and handling customer requests and resolutions.

The City of Liberty Electrical Department is responsible for maintaining the City's power distribution systems and substations. The city, which owns its own electricity distribution system, purchases energy wholesale from the Sam Rayburn Municipal Power Agency (SRMPA) under a contract through Entergy. SRMPA is a power consortium jointly owned by the cities of Liberty, Livingston and Jasper.
