Fleet Maintenance is responsible for ongoing maintenance and repairs on over 200 vehicles and various types of equipment, ranging from fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, and bucket trucks to front-end loaders, dump trucks, and tractors. Fleet Maintenance strives to save the taxpayers as much money as possible through timely maintenance and cost-effective repairs on the City's vehicles and equipment.
Fleet Maintenance also serves the City by maintaining the Storm Water Pumps and Emergency Generators. This service includes:
- Performing monthly pump and generator exercise and maintenance.
- Running pumps around-the-clock, when necessary, to prevent rain water and runoff from rising flood levels from inside the City's main levee program.
- Assisting all City departments during storms and other adverse weather conditions.
Building Maintenance is responsible for outside and inside maintenance, repairs, carpentry, plumbing, roofing, remodeling, sand blasting, painting, etc. of over 10 buildings and numerous equipment shelters, sheds, and various projects for all City departments.
