Welcome to the City of Liberty
Liberty, Texas, known as "The First City on the Trinity," was established in 1831 and is situated on US Highway 90 midway between Houston and Beaumont. Easy access to these metropolitan areas, a low cost of living, high quality of life, and a rich heritage make Liberty a great place to put down roots.
Liberty offers residents a small town atmosphere while providing all the modern services one expects from larger cities. Newcomers will find a friendly, charming community with a progressive outlook on the future. Liberty is a great place to visit -- and a better place to live.

The City of Liberty Street Department will be trimming trees hanging over the streets beginning November, 2009 thru March, 2010. The legal height is 14 ft. For traffic to clear. We will be trimming curb to curb a minimum of 14 ft. If the owner of the tree would like to have their tree trimmed by their own contractor or themselves, they need to do so or contact us prior to the city crews getting there. We will not have a schedule as to when we will be in a particular neighborhood because as other things take priority we will have to stop the trimming activity and take care of them. We are sorry that we have to cut the trees but it is our responsibility to keep the streets safe for traffic.
Effective December 1, 2009, Alarm systems within the city limits of Liberty must have an alarm system permit. The application fee for an alarm permit is $25.00 per year. For further details please click on the City Services tab, then Police, for alarm permit information. If you have any questions, please call the Liberty Police Department at 936-336-5666.
