Electrical System

The Sam Rayburn Municipal Power Agency presently operates and maintains two electrical substations and one transmission line. The transmission system consists of a network of approximately two miles of lines that tie the substations together.

The distribution system is owned by and maintained by the City of Liberty, which originates at the two substations, consists of some 32 miles of overhead and 10 miles of underground distribution lines.

As of 2014, the City served 2869 residential and 836 commercial customers. Although the vast majority of Liberty residents receive power through the City, small population areas within the City limits are Entergy customers.
