Candidate Information

Candidate Qualifications

To run for City Council you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a registered voter of the city
  • Be a resident of the City of Liberty for at least twelve (12) months prior to the date of the election
  • Not have been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court; and
  • Not have been finally convicted of a felony from which you have not been pardoned or otherwise released from resulting disabilities.

Application for a Place on the Ballot

Applications for a place on the ballot will be accepted by the City Secretary. Packets containing the necessary documents are available in the City Secretary's office during normal business hours. Each candidate must submit the Application for a Place on the Ballot and file the Appointment of Campaign Treasurer form. A candidate must file the Appointment of Campaign Treasurer form prior to accepting or receiving any funds.
