Code Ranger Program

Code Ranger participants will be trained in the most common code enforcement violations in order for citizens to accurately recognize and report violations to Neighborhood Services.  Code Ranger participants will have an opportunity to build a relationship with their local officer.  This effort will encourage and strength a spirit of volunteerism which will allow the city and the citizens to work together to grow strong, safe, responsible neighborhoods.  This will be accomplish through:

   

  • Training classes taught by code enforcement staff;
  • Special email access to the local inspector to report violations;
  • Individual response to the local inspector to report violations;
  • Individual response to Code Rangers on all violations reported through the program;
  • Invitations to quarterly meetings to meet other Code Ranger participants and key staff members.


Goals of the Code Ranger Program 
 
  • Increase Code Enforcement
  • Train citizens to recognize and accurately report violations, preserving property values, and discouraging crime.
  • Reinvigorate Neighborhoods
  • Create a sense of community in each neighborhood, encouraging civic responsibility, increasing neighborhood pride, and setting a standard of excellence.
  • Improve Housing
  • Provide a stronger, safer and more attractive community.
